At Present’s lifesaver belt is the (or more specifically, my) piece of the szn, partially because of the colors — the color way here on a more traditional belt will similarly contextualize a spring palette. Styled here with a vintage terry cloth jacket (decades old TRR find; don’t hate a beaded fringe hem like this (+ neckline) or something even simpler like this/this/this in its stead), a khaki button down shirt (its brushed flannel; here are the best two in cotton), a Lisa Yang skirt (the silk is also lovely; for more structure (which will make the untucked shirt feel more serious, something like this from Tibi) and there’s a little inkling of a Phoebe Philo red clog (for walkability, it’s these)

Are you feeling dried up and crusty, or has your great thaw started? A new pattern I’m detecting surrounds a familiar sense of aggression coated in the subtlest bit of desperation that kicks in this time of year and produces an oddly exquisite dance with its most polarizing opponent: the urge to soak in renewed faith or hope and creative urgency.
