From a Venetian, who picked Milan, and now spend half her time in London/elsewhere, but always come back...This is the very best, more accurate description of the city soul i have ever read! That going in circle and that inspiration are just as right for someone staying here 2 days or 300. Your reportage is a tribute!
“It’s good when it’s born from activation, wrong when I expect that it’s going to activate me.” This is a drop mic sentence.
It is very true, from where I “see” you that you embody a very Latin-Mediterranean aesthetics and style work (like from south of Spain to Adriatic shores) more than culture there are genes activating this in you.
For instance in my case I sense something closer to orient or south hemisphere activating me.
More of a pull than of a push when seeking beauty.
I’ll read this thoroughly yet I’m compelled to hit comment too soon: this passage “Admittedly, overall, I have felt more like I fit in here than anywhere else — from the way that I look (big hair, olive skin), to the clothes that I wear (all the denim and gold). But also, I think, because through my own style, I pursue the rough edges that seem natural, like a given, to the style of the Milanese.”
Would you believe me if I say that I predicted this?!
Came for the fashion
Staying for the writing
You are such a gift, thank you !
You are such a gift too

There. Now I’ve read it.
Milan = Your comfort zone city
What I got from this was history; from the city, the people, fashion, and your own family's.
Is it too soon for you to go back?
xx
