love these ideas. the opera gloves…so rad. i have some missoni-like ones i knit. living in park city, i feel your comment about warm stuff feeling too masculine. also i don’t like to feel like i’m doing too much, so the idea of adding one whimsical item like earrings resonates. also love the tip about hat angle. cuz i have curtain bangs and tipping it back slightly lets me showcase them.

What about trapper hats? I want to wear a trapper hat. And damn, I could kick myself for not getting that The Row pillbox when you first debuted it, what, last winter? Now my eye has grown accustomed to it, and I want it. Well, I will persevere. Someone will part with one on TRR.

I’m envisioning a trapper her with a cropped puffer and tailored wool pants and suede boots !!!

Thanks for all this winter stuff. How about how to wear long underwear? ( sometimes, like this week in Hudson) it is the only answer. Vain as I am, I loose whatever veneer of sane I have when I’m cold. I even wore the ugliest Patagonia they ever made today (and that’s saying something ) I wear a hat inspite of hat hair, but long underwear or leggings seems to be the failsafe and I feel like I have another person in my pants with me. Negative underwear is the most acceptable... but the least warm. Slippy joggers over leggings isn’t horrible if they’re loose- and Ruti work pants. How to wear woolly leggings without feeling like you’ve gained a full ten?

Do you wear them under your pants? I usually do tights!

And I think the thing is: roomier pants. Like not the opportunity to wear your more sausage-y jeans. Too clingy with formal wool too. So you’re probably going like corduroy, raw denim, or a thicker wool weave

You make beanies beautiful. I feel silly wearing them with glasses. I can't the look right wearing big glasses.

Expand full comment

Maybe the glasses aren’t the right shape? What kind do you wear?

Expand full comment

The wrong kind. I tried on another pair for fun, nothing I'd considered before, as an experiment. They worked out great with my new beanie! Only I can't see anything... but I sure look good. :)

Running to the attic to my grandmothers hat collection that she passed down to me... I should actually share pictures of collection here they are so stunning and interesting...

I love a nice hat, but when it is cold I need something to cover my ears and then only a beanie will do.

What is your opinion on a baclava? Any tips there?

Expand full comment

Love a balaclava. My trick with them is usually to let my hair hang out to strike that balance of femininity I mentioned. If your hair is short or that’s just not possible, can always play with trying to show front of head hair

aaaand now I understand the hat picture at lunch!

It’s a different story without it, don’t you think!

indeed it is a hat that deserves above the fold placement and a perch of her own

white gloves are so great but also so annoying - I like I always touch my face and get make-up on them...

Hi, I was hoping you’d mention where the sunglasses are from, especially the black ones with the light blue beanie. Sunglasses are a big part of the outfit for me lol!

Expand full comment

Hi! these are old sunglasses from a collab with The Row and Oliver Peoples. Sometimes you can still find them on very random sunglasses overstock sites, or I just did a quick search and they're here on Poshmark: https://poshmark.com/listing/RESEARCH-The-ROW-X-Oliver-Peoples-LA-CC-Sunglasses-Black-or-Tortoiseshell-6518fe9da0e6c64f05db4fdf

but i would look for a little longer, you can usually find a better deal!
