Hmmm… anyone else thinking about Becky’s advice this week and what she did with those sweatpants? And maybe just cut them yourself?? I may experiment with some retired skinny jeans …

If you try it with a pair of leggings show us the outcome!! Could be a game changer.

I had the exact same thought. Great way to repurpose skinny denim!

This is such perfect timing, I just bought the grey Alo capris yesterday (there's 30% off sale going on over there rn if anyone is considering it)

And I’m wearing mine RIGHT NOW

I can’t go back to wearing them, however much I like some of your outfits (especially one of the last styled with the silk shirt).

They bring back too many memories (being insecure and in puberty) 😅

Love them on you but with sun damage and ugly 67 year old, I just can’t!

I was just getting ready to email and ask how and what your take was on these darn things. Enlighten me on your summer bottoms, please. I can say this. I don't like Bermuda shorts at all. 5'2 with short muscular legs has its challenges!

Are you more of a mini dress kind of gal

Yes, mini with leggings or a flowery type mini dress with leggings.

Would you try capri leggings? Or meh

Expand full comment

Do you mean like the lulumon you wore in the image? Meh. I can't wear them solo. I don't have thigh gap. And of course the fat padding around my thighs (aging, no matter how much I workout) limits certain items.

Those with a mini skirt!

Sheet I replied but it went to the bottom of the string! In the summer I cover up. Maxi dresses and skirts and long pants. Too much sun damage and I’ve had skin cancer so I’m uber protective. Linen, cotton, spf clothing. So boring but my derm is happy. I do own one pair of long white Bermuda shorts but that’s it. (I even wear SPF gloves when driving as that is where the damage has really shown up! Dorky but better than the alternative!)

I have skin issues also. I stay mostly covered up. I wear long pants most of the summer but I'm fairly miserable doing so. This year I have to come up with something new, I really just don't like capri's at all. And I don't find them comfortable, same with Bermuda shorts. I do wear skorts, the one's golfers wear, they're okay for running around, but for lounging, no. I must find something more stylish this year, so I'll keep searching... and once I find the right thing I'll buy seven different colors on repeat, haha.

It is hard to find lightweight loungewear but do you know Athleta? They likely have some pieces that could work. There stuff is hit and miss; a lot of miss, quite frankly but I believe their return policy is lenient. Lots of synthetic fibers tho!

Can you do wide legged pants that come to right above the ankle? In linen or lightweight cotton they would be super comfortable I would think. But you have to feel good in them.

I always think I can do skorts, but then put them on and all the skinny leg mocking from mean girls come into my head and I can’t. Athleta definitely has a few great ones. Also Old Navy for basics!

Right? There is no way on God’s green earth I am falling into this style groove at this age. Skinny white sun damaged legs? Forgedaboutit!

You certainly don’t have to.

I thrifted a pair of suiting-like capris today for $8. Immediately came to this post to figure out how to wear them. For shoes I am thinking those Manolo cork wedges with the thong on top. Love your jacket and top inspo, though. And even if I can't make it work, I'm only out eight bucks.

This newsletter made me so very happy 😊 I’ve always loved Capris and that Carrie’s outfit is probably one of my favourites. Thanks Leandra for keeping me so inspired and excited about clothes every week.

I’m so ready for a 60s renaissance! What else will be there? I just put my money on lavender suede moccasins & tiny polka dot pedal pushers.

Summer bottoms for me are lightweight pants, maxi dresses and ling skirts. I cover up!

I have been eyeing the Eve Raw denim ones for a few days, haven’t pulled the trigger yet because I’m unsure about the sizing. Any tips? Thanks for SO MUCH INSPIRATION!!!

What’s your normal size? The raw denim has a slight stretch in it (my preference) so I’d go with regular size if you want to be able to breathe, or size down if you’re looking for a skin tight fit!

Okay sold and wow because I'm not a capri pant gal by any stretch - good job! I'm really upset about that Antivol jacket being sold out though ;-(

Is it sold out!?

Think so - every leather jacket on their website states Sold Out. Unless you have a direct link to it which states otherwise, or can you source their jackets from anywhere else?
