Jeans! Jeans! My life is for the right denim, haha! Finally coming to terms with, what fits me best as a short torsoed on the edge of petite woman. I love old, low-slung, faded jeans. I'm happy to see you in the super shredded ones. I just took my old favorites to my tailor to have some crazy patching done since the holes were getting a bit too big for me. I think sizing up has become my new mantra, or just letting go of a "size" idea for myself. This was a fun post, lots of inspiration, and a cute baby! The perfect combo!
About 10 years ago, I was waiting for someone in a shopping center. I had nothing to do, so I wandered into a random store that I would never go into, as it was low-quality and not my style at all.
They were selling out the last pairs of jeans, and one caught my eye—a pair of simple, very dark grey (might have been black then) jeans, straight leg, lightly washed, and calling my name. I tried them on. Perfect fit. 8 EUR. A true love story.
Fast forward a decade—it is still the only pair I wear. Every time I try to upgrade, it’s a disaster: bad fits, weird cuts, uncomfortable everything. So I crawl back to my beloved bargain jeans like a fashion Stockholm syndrome victim.
I look at your photos and dream of moving on, but those 8-euro jeans have me in a chokehold I can’t escape. Send help (or identical replacements).
Such a good piece today and so helpful The key with jeans is to abandon your idea of correct size and go for fit and comfort - otherwise you will not reach for them! We have to wear our clothes!
Also LOVE the CH tassel dress but fabric sounds a bit icky. The cut though is magnifique!
Just popping by to say 1) I love your newsletters and 2) your writing continues to expand my vocabulary with a myriad (that’s one example) of fun words amongst which include are but not limited to, bevy, eschew, tableaux, harbinger, opulence … and more! Thanks for inspiring
Indress items and CH dress over white jeans , all winners of note. Love the shiny shirt with that Hunting Season tote : hair down or up with brooch glimpsed or on full display- equally stunning options. The CH tassle dress worn with cuffs against that bricked stone backdrop gives a mood of layering of heritages you effortlessly project.
No never. BUT yesterday I walked into a shop and tried on the most perfect shredded Levi’s, which were reworked and was like: I have to have these. Was ready to pay like $350 for them but they were 😱😱$700😱😱
So I bought the still here buckle jeans whilst almost immediately post partum (treating myself for the body I had etc etc). But now they are too big (even with the buckle buckled it is a pretty low rise). And with a low rise and no belt loops I fear I have no options but to sell
Really great read, thank you as always. How would you style these jeans? I mistakenly sized down so they are a higher waste. I’m struggling to keep them casual.
Hmmm are they very long on you? I would imagine a field or tennis sneaker could be great with them. Maybe with muscle tee or tank top depending on whether you prefer an exposed decolette (these days I do) and something tied around your waist? Once we get the outfit right we will talk accessories
I got them hemmed but still with a bit of puddle. I like the idea of a tank or muscle tee. I can see myself pairing that with a long necklace. 🙏🏼 Will try to recreate soon. Thank you
Dearest Leandra,
This has been one of my favorite reads and the coolest outfits. Love love love.
Thank you!!! Xxx
I will refer to this often!

Sizing up is the only way! Especially for winter jeans or just any that you imagine you’ll want to tuck things into.

Doesn’t like a chokehold. Sounds like freedom. Cherish it!

So jam packed with goodies! Do you tailor most of your jeans? They seem to have the perfect fit!

Yikes! There are so many collectors from all over the world, I kind of get it.
❤️
Leandra, you're such an inspiration even for me that i'm a man. I'm sure i'm adapting your vision to my own closet and style. Thanks.

See if you can trade them in at the store. I wonder if they have a program like that
@leandra
hiii! Jeans with flats…are the sock mesh (the row) still a go? Or a flat mary jane instead?
I often think the MJ look a bit feminine, not edgy enough when wearing more simple denim outfits. Almost too expected.
Need some flat comfortable walk around all day shoes that aren’t sneakers.
😘😘😘
Yes between the sock shoe and the mj I definitely say sock shoe. What color? There’s a pair from Tory Burch that brings a bit of hardware which could be good if you don’t wear too much jewelry/out there clothes: https://click.linksynergy.com/deeplink?id=YMiYTDIaGHM&mid=43625&murl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.toryburch.com%2Fen-us%2Fshoes%2Fflats%2Fpatos-mesh-flat%2F158298.html%3Fcolor%3D001
Thanks for the rec! ♥️
Genius! Saved.
