Vintage offers the best leopard print imho: I found a Dolce & Gabbana camisole on Vinted, Yves Saint Lauren double breasted blazer on The Real Real and a faux fur coat from v.good French vintage website, Imparfaite. All under $200. Because no coat is worth $10,000!

Thanks for the recs, those are good! But not fair to say in absolute terms that anything is or isn’t worth anything (imo!). It’s so subjective

I don't think it's about being fair or unfair. More a deep belief that unless it's a piece of fashion archive/history, a coat cannot ever be worth a $10,000 price tag. I'm not saying I think everything has to be $200! But I know from convos with multiple close friends who work in luxury retail, that I am not alone in feeling deep moral concern about the escalating price of fashion. (It's not an Aflalo problem, it's an industry problem.) But totally get that you feel differently/ it's a whole convo of its own!

Yeah it doesn’t feel like it has to teeter into a conversation on morality. I know a little (just a very little) about the interior hood of Yael’s bizz, and what the mark up on the coat is supposed to be vs where she landed with it. Not really defending a $10k garment (would not be able to afford it, would not bat an eye about NOT being able to afford it), and see what you’re saying for sure about industry, (mark

up, etc). it’s really hard for designers to actually turn a profit after the point of production! Between cost then wholesale then retail, by the time the piece touches our hands we’re so far from the point of origin. Then again though, implicit in cost vs wholesale vs retail are the jobs that are created and sustained to do the work. Def a larger convo, probably more about capitalism than anything else, but I will def agree: costs are so high. My fam is in jewelry business and it has become near impossible to work with gold.

Yes I have friends who are designers, I know that too. (But again, the price at the luxury tend to be less affixed to actual production costs.) I am firm in my belief in industry and morality being connected (feel the same about the contemporary art market) but as I said - it’s totally your right to feel differently!

Oh you are soooo good with leopard! My dear favorite aunt gave me a leopard print scarf for my 40th and it remains one of my prized possessions. I am so glad animal prints are having a moment (but for me, they kind of never completely leave). So many great styling ideas and so happy I have insight into how to dress better (always a goal) right down to my eyewear.

Thank you so much, Leandra! PS That Alfolo coat on you is a dream on you!!!

Gosh you look great in that leopard coat! It's giving "Fierce Femininity" vibes and I just love it x Plus I love the way Rixo has been mixing it up with leopard prints in their dresses for years now.

I opened the box today. Wearing them with my pilates gear, until I can change into her denim. (Problem. Obsessed. Meets me in my casual life with such an LA vibe.) Leandra, I believe you are the one who shared Jamie Haller (and High Sport) with us. No?

Precious baby posts. Precious. Congratulations.

Wondering about other kitten heel sandal alts with the leopard tights since the Emme P’s seem to be left only in 37,5 everywhere? I really love the idea of the minimal strap shearling kitten sandal, but not sure how many specific alts on that there can be.

Did a quick search and came across these: https://studioamelia.co/products/sissonne-80-heel-black-shearling

But I'm not sure if (and I know this is very specific) the small gold loops make them one notch too much

Thanks for this! It’s a decent contender, but I also love the heel height on the EP’s, this one is inching a bit beyond. Maybe have to move on from the shearling sandal dream…

I think it’s just mini coop syndrome! You get a mini coop and suddenly realize everyone else has one. In this instance: I write about leopard and now you see it all around. Just picking up what the culture is dropping 🤷🏻‍♀️ have a great weekend ❤️

I have a vintage leopard print blazer & when I bought it I had to buy the set - a pleated leopard print skirt. Do you think it’s possible to make the skirt work or is the pleated “too” much? Wondering if some of the coat ideas could work for my blazer also? But the length of the Alfolo coat may be the reason it works? Thanks!!!!

The combo actually sounds divine. Is it a long pleated skirt or above knee ? Does the blazer cover butt or it more cropped and is it single or double breast

Expand full comment

Good questions! The skirt is above the knee. Blazer covers half butt and single breast!
