Fun to see how you recreated these! I find a story like this so much more interesting and inspiring than someone who just does a "haul" of the exact items. Working within what we have already in our closets -- frankly, fairly easy given the simplicity of the pieces -- to create these looks is so much more inspiring. Thanks, Leandra!
Glad you had fun (I did too) in defense of the haul, feel like I have to acknowledge that I doooo shop the row to the extent that I can and have some pieces that specifically made this work (like the ridiculous hat)
Don't get me wrong -- I would haul alllll of this if I could, but I can't, so. It's inspiring to think I could still make some of the looks work even without a Row budget. (Though I do appreciate the regular Real Real Row links!)
i love this so much! I have been looking forward to this post since you teased a few weeks ago i think? to see how you would recreate the looks (selfishly because my fall plan is to do the same -with what i have already and the row lookbook/your interpertation of it- as a way to get out of what feels like a rut) and i loved the looks! BUT what I loved even more are the observations around good/bad taste it really made me think about what i consider to me my personal bad taste points (things i love but think i should't) and how actually until i allow my self to incorporate those things everything feels flat. what i am trying to say is: THANK YOU
This is such a fun piece! Thank you. Reminded me of the Miu Miu messiness that is starting to appear in other places (just received a Citizens of Humanity newsletter with the opening image of a woman wearing jeans with visible tights pulled over her tee. Would you ever do a deeper dive into how to accomplish that "hurried out the door" look for regular people - a la Miu Miu's Fall 2023 presentation?
I will go back and read this again and again. I particularly loved the part about good/bad taste. I find myself drawn to quirky pieces to make to my outfit sing. I get really excited about these things. They are probably my “bad taste” items, but they feel creatively wonderful. I’m going with my husband to his yearly business conference tomorrow, and I always feel anxious about my outfits because they are not like the other women, who stick to the dictated style of the moment, no creative additions. After reading this , I am inspired to stay true to my possibly “bad taste” additions and be free!! Thanks!
Important commentary from abie (my husband) re this post: “that leather jacket looked much better on the model, no offense. The cut was more sleek.”
Haha
