Such a good post. Requesting a pearl roundup! How to wear them (including different lengths/styles) -- where to get them? Love how you make pearls look modern and edgy, not fusty and stale. They're timeless and yet also having a "moment?"
Doen skirt is the goods! I find myself changing looks based on the audience too. Sometime even adding a piece or two for the commute in the city, then taking it off at work!
Commuting on the train in the city might bring you attention, you don't want, or you want to just get to your destination. Especially when you're Trans, you find ways to fit in and hide and find ways to stand out!
You are going to love this feature I'm planning to run next week on a friend of mine. That same dichotomy/paradox of: "I just want to fit in, but I can't help stand out" - I think this is what fashion gives to a lot of us
Leandra, can I get your thoughts on the color of these jeans, color is up we go? In your opinion is it a dark colored versatile jeans? If not, do you have a suggestion for one that’s a similar 90’s fit denim?
This is definitely the black equivalent of versatile jeans. I tend towards blue jeans more generally, but any pair of black jeans I do have and wear are this same fade. What are you getting them for? What closet problem are you trying to solve with them?
I have a lot of pairs of denim that are lighter wash and I wanted something that I can dress up. Like you I don’t own a lot of black denim and I don’t wear a lot of dresses for occasion wear. I love wearing jeans and wanted something for that purpose.
That would be such a fun one to put together! TBH I rotate between 3-4 outfits. I only go 1-2 a month and have found a good equation for feeling comfortable and like I’m going dancing (I have one Diana Ross photo reference in mind when I’m getting dressed) - and as far as places: nightmoves in Brooklyn!
geez every look top to bottom, and especially the last also the accessories round up was fun. Thanks for all the juicy outfit inspiration, and as always the thought process around it, I LOVED the idea that getting dressed is a moving meditation, YES YES YES!
Love these ideas! How would you style the navy velvet Gap shirt - would you wear it open with a fun tank underneath? Or buttoned up with corduroy pants? Thanks!
I’d wear it tucked into a festive bottom for the holiday season — brocade pants or a metallic/sequined skirt. In real life I’d wear it with high waist jeans and a belt, or styled over flare pants with a waist belt to give me sum WAIST

OooOh thank you for pointing this out. Working on a how to wear jewelry round up for Jan, will include how to wear pearls to look MODERN
(Basically, wear it with unexpected (could mean masculine, could mean rigid and informal) top layers.
My favorite post so far!!!! More of this real life mom programming w links!! Love
My favourite accompaniment for morning coffee is reading your articles, a brief moment of bliss before I start the day :) Thanks Cafe Leandra!
Love this post! Didn’t see a shoutout for the brown leather bag - can you please share?
Hi! That bag is Ralph Lauren. I also have this one from Sezane that I have been wearing a lot: https://www.sezane.com/us/product/milo-bag/taupe#size-TU
Looks nice against formal winter layers

I love this. Somehow feels so kind to me - What do you think provokes your feeling the desire to put on something extra for the commute?

Do you recommend getting these or any other dark blue that you love?
Love the glove shape shoe tip- so true with full length pants!
Would be delighted by a round up of dancing looks! Possibly accompanied by dancing places recommendations?? Always looking for a good spot

Great suggestions - I’ll wear with my Double J Saturday night pants!
I digressed into all the links and zooming in on pictures that it took me almost an hour to read this one! So so good
Just said to myself today, “wow I change my outfit at least 3x a day” 👀
You might take this back after the holiday dressing menu comes out!
