I love this edition. I know you will get to a more diverse neighborhood; there were no black or brown people here! But I really appreciated your appreciation of older people, who often feel unseen. You see them and all that they are doing with their clothing to speak in the world.

Leandra’s photo reportage reflects this specific neighborhood. Diversity is important, but I kindly and very respectfully disagree that it should be mentioned here when black and/or brown people just might not be as prevalent in this nook of the city or perhaps even in people walking by at the times she was shooting. I respect and subscribe to you both. 💜🩷❤️

I agree and hope the way I wrote acknowledges that! In the same breath as I loved the appreciation of older people, it felt authentic to me to notice, appreciate and also look forward to even more. Thanks, Lisette.

Yes, I see your intention was coming from a good place. Thanks for clarifying even further 🥰

HEAVEN! Leandra! This gives me so much pleasure! You have brought Bill Cunningham BACK TO LIFE BRILLIANTLY.

I'd like to see this in The New York Times EVERY SUNDAY!

It’s my favorite place to sit. My husband and I often sit there and yell out “Chic”. Or “Go on wit your bad self”. It’s our favorite pastime.

I hope I’m on the receiving end of those yells one time!

I love people watching! So good to see it in other cities I want to visit one day! I people watch in Newstead (inner city Brisbane Australia) !! Far away but also very similar!

Damn. I just love the way you see, Leandra. Also, THIS: "I think as humans it just feels good to witness other people being themselves with no regret or apology."

This might be my favorite of all your work from the lenses inside your unique perspective. The details are unmatched in that your art and creativity shine through. A day spent in your shoes in NYC is my version of a dream come true. This is truly 'a room with a view' - thank you for sharing this, I hope you do more of these throughout the summer. I believe you are a gifted photo journalist in addition to being a professional fashion maven. Wonderful, magical work, thank you.

Oh Leandra, I loved this sooo much! First of all, you showed some older people who are very stylish in their own way (I would like to think I am one of them) but also highlighting the never ending inspirational parade of NY street style. I grew up visiting my grandmother who lived in Peter Cooper Village and get back there whenever I can for theater, great restaurants, and most of all the fabulous walking and shopping opportunities. Not to mention other peoples style choices! BTW, I have that Ralph Lauren linen blazer, and you’ve given me some new ideas as to how to style it. I’ve been wearing it with denim. Love it with white, too. It was on sale and might still be! As a native of SF, I mourn the demise of fashion there and always dress up when I go into my hometown now. I wrote about this is my substack recently! Trying singlehandedly to bring it back - and show the athleisure wearing tech bros how it used to be done! Ha!

I felt an instant connection with that man’s white outfit, I saw myself in it and had to recreated it immediately 😅 thank you for inspiring us daily through your wardrobe and other people’s wardrobe Leandra xx

This is such a great post, and it made me so so sad that I don’t live in New York.

Yes please! I have missed street style blogs like the Sartorialist (although it got a bit too stylized towards the end). Keep it up!

Love it! I had an apt on 92nd off 5th a few years & sold last summer..you have SO captured the Carnegie Hill vibe.. Uptown street style now feels more quirky & expressive in contrast to more performative or homogeneous/“influenced” styles ~Soho/Dimes square etc..

please keep the series up.. I love that it’s the “morning version”~ so specific up there ⭕️❌⭕️❌⭕️

This is how i feel as well. Given the changes in New York, the UES seems very OG. I so appreciate more than I ever did.

Isn’t it so weird? I stayed w friends for years on 97th/5th before moving back to NYC FT in 2014.. then downtown until doing a spontaneous LA re-lo a year ago..

I bought on e 92 in 2021.. & we all

sold the building to convent of the sacred ❤️ (so that was a VERY UES experience in & of itself 🤣)

For various reasons, I didn’t live there FT.. but having the perspective of hindsight.. & having moved bACK to GV for a year of that whole adventure.. there was something so genuine about that neighborhood.. anchored by Mt Sinai, the park, the museums, & SO so many more local businesses than much of the city now.. def an OG vibe ⭕️❌
