I am intrigued by these socks. How do these socks hold up to wear and wash? (On wash I am assuming delicate cycle in a netted bag, cold water etc, line dry…)

Similar vibes to the Doen nightgown - I own a bunch of these: https://www.eileenwest.com/collections/classics-collection/products/poetic-chemise

I like these too! Do you cut the lining out? Haven’t figured out how to do that gracefully yet

YES…+ Highly recommend Jenny Odell’s two books, “How to do Nothing” and “Inhabiting Negative Space,” both hugely helpful in reminding me how important doing nothing/something sans expectation is….also, your travels looks magical✨✨✨✨

Was coming here to say just this!!! Jenny Odell’s book changed my whole mindset about time (as did 4000 Weeks by Oliver Burkeman).

Boredom stands so firmly against the time trend of the last decade or so - “grinding” or “hustling” - where every second of the day is accounted for. It’s the rock in the river. It is timeless, fluid, unpredictable Kairos against the rigidity & stoic plodding of Chronos. You cannot plan to be bored!!! Can’t put it into a planner or google calendar!!! How marvelous!!!

hi!

I have a question. Do you (or you all) have recommendations for lightweight socks? I know socks have come up before but am having trouble finding the info from past posts and would be grateful for help.

What I'm looking for is a mid-calf thin sock. Something that can be worn with loafers in the summer thereby minimizing any feet stickiness while adding the minimal in terms of warmth. In fact, in California, these are the same socks I want to wear in the winter.

Years ago I got some fab socks from Maria La Rosa (through La Garconne). Ribbed, silky, mid calf , in black and the palest pearl grey. The grey particularly is divine. I still have them but they're getting ratty and I need some back ups.

When I look on the Maria La Rosa site they seem to be focussing more on embellished socks with various doo-dads or made from eye catching materials (lurex etc). There is something called the 'winter ribbed mid calf sock' but that is warmer than what I had - made with a cashmere mix - and the color grey is obviously different (more heathered than pearl). Plus they cost $121 which isn't within my sock budget.

Any tips?

Many thanks and right on re boredom! It's the best way to extend time, the key to an endless summer. X

Let's hear it for a boring summer! We just canceled a trip and I am THRILLED. Slowing the F down and just doing the basics. You look amazing and your time in Rome looks so fun! X

I need to pick up Boring Girl Summer, sounds like a fantastic read.

"We never have to feel bored these days but maybe there’s a practice, a discipline, a lesson to be extracted from intentionally indulging in shapeless time." - This resonated with me so much!

Also lastly, that butter yellow sheer dress is everything!
