The Big Apple Circus does this thing now where the performers appear on a large screen before their acts. They talk about the path that led them to the circus and they’re all so proud to tell where they’re from but really how far they have come, remembering when they inhaled that first breath of inspiration or maybe it’s purpose and how finally, they made it to this exact moment with all these strangers in the audience looking at them in oooh and awe and I’m sitting there watching and thinking, Wow. There’s really no right or wrong goal to have for your life — Or, actually, maybe it’s the opposite. The only right goal to have for your life is to live it honestly, how you want to, with purpose and a shit load of pride.
Yeah, live it with pride.
Shit loads of it.
"The only right goal to have for your life is to live it honestly, how you want to, with purpose and a shit load of pride." I love this. For whatever reason, at 50, I am having so much fun talking and learning style on my @heymrssolomon instagram, live + in posts. (A side of happiness to my happy owning/running of a business.) Yet my friend thinks this is ridiculous. Embarrassing even. But it makes me feel joy ... and feel "me"!
Yup. A specific circus highlight was the woman who came from a family of bear trainers who now trains those wonderful dachshunds. That seems like a smart, personal pivot to me.
