Do you ever find yourself “aging out” of clothing you used to love, or perhaps still love but don’t feel like wearing with the same thrill that used to possess you?
Denim shorts is an excellent example. It has been for a long time in my eyes the perfect friend of summer with shirts, loose tee shirt, tank top ... but for the first time, I sulked this summer. I preferred to wear dresses.
What you say is very interesting about our relationship with our dressing. I don't throw away clothes I don't like anymore. I keep them specifically in case I change my mind.
It is also very diffficle to follow fashion since the emergence of Instagram because we are always behind this or that influencer.... it can be very frustrating for some people.... It's quite difficult to explain....but it would be a good topic to deal with here.
I’d love to hear more about what you mean with the last point. I can totally relate with the frustration, and I understand it but I’m curious about your experience
I think Instagram creates frustrations for many women who would like to follow the fashion of influencers.... Let's take the example of the Prada basket that you see everywhere (in pink, in yellow,...). You can't find it in stores. Prada will only sell it next summer. This creates a frustration.
Another example: let's take Blanca Miro who I love... if you try to copy her or follow her fashion... it's financially impossible for many women... so it creates frustration and devaluation with the feeling of not being fashionable.
I'm actually passionate about this topic. Instagram is a great tool to find inspiration. But unfortunately a lot of women don't know how to make the difference and this causes a lot of sadness, jealousy, self-deprecation. And I find that very sad.
Right. I definitely understand this. What I genuinely wonder and find myself thinking about more and more is who is responsible for the feeling: the influencer or the feeler?
Yes I have been thinking more clearly lately something I’ve known a long time which is that we might be expecting too much from it. But also then, that if we can’t making those expectations of it, maybe we shouldn’t use it. Because I like you find myself feeling similarly but for different reasons. It’s tricky to start to understand that your relationship with something you have become addicted to is changing. Like continuing to drink coffee when you no longer like the taste because you’re just so used to it or something

I find this topic fascinating to analyze....

Good question ! I think it’s the feeler. Instagram is not the reality.
