Ay the last sentence girl, yes.

And I really loved your going out look, the sheer shirt, yum.

I can relate to this so much. Some folks go all into being a mom, others don’t change much from their pre-mom identities. But, like Londie, I want to be able to do it all, and I appreciate her honesty in balancing that.

I read something this morning (https://annieridout.substack.com/p/older-female-creatives-with-children) that touched on the conflict exactly of maintaining interests outside of your kids/that are completely for yourself and how we are in a sense demonized (by ourselves or our cultures) for it. And even when we are not — when the act of mothering is what lights us up and makes us better, somehow that too is minimized — taken as a given of being a woman or what we’re supposed to do or like it’s somehow easy. at least it can feel this way where I am from

I wonder how much of it in 2023 is internalized residual judgment from less liberated time, projections of our insecurities and how we want to perceived (by others OR oursrves). I think about this for myself a lot. Like am I the one who is hardest on myself about how much I need an outlet?
