All in the eye of the beholder Patricia. I’m reminded of Dolly Partons quote about admiring the town “tramp” (Dolly’s words): “I make jokes about it, but it's the truth that I kind of patterned my look after the town tramp. I didn't know what she was, just this woman who was blond and piled her hair up, wore high heels and tight skirts, and, boy, she was the prettiest thing I'd ever seen”
Personally I’d probably wear booty shorts as a look only for a select few in my own home. But that’s the fun of clothes isn’t it? We needed t all agree...and I can’t see hot shorts as any different than a bathing suit which we accept to be worn in public. It’s different because the weathers cold? That doesn’t quite chime for me...
And interesting also to think about what hookerish even means in describing a look. Indeed I’m sure sex workers can’t be spotted based on their clothes. Nor - my humble opinion- is sex work to be ashamed of.
You got me thinking! Wishing you a happy and sparkly new years....
My grandchildren would be scarred for life if they saw me in the no pants look🤣. Even in my own home. The fact that I read this column and like the majority of the outfits Leandra fashions, hopefully doesn’t make me appear to be a Karen.
Glad you liked the conversation. It was the first and last comment I will be making on your posts. The person who had two snarky comments killed my joy. I will however still read your lovely posts. Patty.
Happy new year, Leandra! Besides your care for getting dressed, it’s also to me how you are always able to use the right words to get to the heart of things. 🤍🎉
I loved this post especially Leandra and have been souring the internet ever since for sparkly jackets and minamalist nun-like maxi dresses. I love it! xxx
This vibe theory is possibly the best/most succinct explanation I’ve ever read for how to create a winning look. Will absolutely be my mantra as I attempt to make my wardrobe make sense in 2024!
I waited for New Years Day for this to be the first thing I read in 2024 and I’m glad I did. Great take away message and as always fun fits / enjoyable editorial read
Happy new year Leandra! Thank you for indulging my stay-at-home New Year outfit and sequin broach dreams with the last couple. Sorry to post here but is there any way to get the Geneva link since subscribing? I emailed a couple days ago but would love to see what everyone wears for NY for more fun inspo. Xo 🤍
I really dislike the no pants look or hot pants in the winter. Is it because I am 70 or because it looks hookerish to me?
I am 63 and if I could go back in time--The years when I ran long distance--I’d have worn more miniskirts and hot pants. More bikinis!!
